Zen + Beauty Enthusiast's Travel Essentials

Zen + Beauty Enthusiast's Travel Essentials

They say that "life is short and the world is wide," and I wholeheartedly agree. There is nothing more I love than traveling. The butterflies of excitement as you're packing your case, the feeling of sheer joy as you board that plane, and the satisfaction that comes from whipping out your in-flight skincare regime - or is that just me?

In the last few years, I have really started to curate my bits & bobs when I travel. Whether that be clothing, accessories or beauty products, there is a distinct, personal recipe I follow when packing the essentials. As it's Winter, and that third pot of lip balm is starting to run dry, I thought it'd be fitting to touch on the travel essentials that keep me zen and functioning during a polar vortex. (Please also note that while I write this, it has just begun snowing again, *sigh*).

There are a handful of things that get me through those Vermont ski trips or flying home to London during colder climes. For starters, I am never without lip balms! Say what you will about chapsticks, but they don't work for me. The minute the temperature drops, my skin begins to shrivel, literally. So, my two trusted pals are Nuxe's Reve de Miel Lip Balm, and Sara Happ's Dream Slip Night Lip Treatment. Pair these together for extra moisture or use day and night and I promise you-you will forever bid a farewell to chapped lips. To hydrate my face and body apres ski, I like to mix this Egyptian Magic All-Purpose Skin Cream into my body lotion or face moisturizer for ultimate smoothness. I tend to travel quite a bit and sometimes this leaves me feeling a little nomadic. The one thing I have actually started traveling with is a candle. Sunday Forever's 11:11 is a regular in my suitcase, as it's a scent that comforts me, and serves some serious hygge vibes when I need grounding. Plus, it's a great way to add a little zen to your morning meditation, no matter where you are in the world.

While everyone is currently culling their homes, Marie Kondo style, there is something in being organized when you travel too! Pouches and cases not only simplify my load, but it saves me a lot of time when I’m on the go. I regularly use the Container Store's Packing Cube Organizers - a real game changer when you’re packing expensive fabrics.

My in-flight skincare regiment always causes quite a stir with the cabin crew and it’s always a fun topic of conversation mid-flight! I go by the ‘cleanse, tone, moisturize’ tale and add an oil in for good measure. Sunday Riley’s UFO Oil is a favorite of mine - it keeps my skin clean and protected against the elements. Before lights out, it’s a sniff of lavender and eucalyptus oil, and my favorite, ‘Out Of Office’ Eye Mask by 41 Winks. Night night xoxo.
